On Saturday 5th April the town will be celebrating in style the tenth birthday of the farmers’ market with the Midsomer Norton and Radstock Silver Band, free prize tombola, additional food stalls and activities on the day. Ex day manager Cathy Peglar will be returning from Portugal to take part in the celebrations and to sell her own olive oil.
The town council has been a staunch supportersof the market over the years and has grant funded promotional activities such as apple days, local musicians, choirs and additional publicity. In return, the market has embraced community participation whether it be youngsters fundraising for their skate park, the local choir performing their annual carols or the Silver Street nature reserve coming along to recruit volunteers. More recently pupils from Writhlington School have been providing hot refreshments at the market while raising money for projects in Africa.
Midsomer Norton Farmers’ Market is renowned for its friendly atmosphere with many customers and producers on first name terms. It is firmly established as the place to shop and socialise on the first Saturday of the month in the Midsomer Norton area.
